Theosophy News Worldwide 3rd Quarter 2015

This issue was published on 2015-10-10 or 8 years 10 months ago.

Dear friends of Theosophy,

it's very interesting to notice more and more theosophical events on universities, for example the "International Conference: Theosophy Across Boundaries" that took place two weeks ago at the Center for American Studies at the University Heidelberg (Germany) or the International Conference: "Theosophy and the Arts: Texts and Contexts of Modern Enchantment" (October 09 - 10, 2015) at the Columbia University in New York organized from the Project "Enchanted Modernities: Theosophy, Modernism and the Arts, c.1875-1960" at the Universitiy of York (UK). It's an encouraging trend, isn't it?

But regard to the amount of attention outside the Theosophical Movement the big story was the Google Doodle of Anny Besants Birthday (1st of Otc.). Not only that Millions of People saw this so called "Doodle" on the Google-Startpage (but only in India), also over 40 newspapers wrote online about it and Anny Besant, in most cases with a direct lead to Theosophy, some kind of a really impressive "public relation" I think (not only in india).

The Theme of the Quarter in this issue is the International Theosophy Conference (ITC) 2015 in The Hague, Netherland, one year after the "Declaration of Naarden" (we reported last year). You can watch a lot of Videos from the current event and get also some personel impressions from participants that Mr. Jan N. Kind collected and published on his Website.

And whether "The Hindu" plead to Theosophy because of "Ban the use of cane in classrooms" or "The Nation" remember "Shrimath Anagarika Dharmapala: true Father of the Nation" of Sri Lanka (Ceylon), which was a Theosophist, whether "The New York Times" about the theosophical inspired Artist Mondrian, "The Huffington Post" or "The Times of India", all of it have to say something about Theosophy, something positive, because on the other hand, you will find also still false allegations published on the web, that try to slide Theosophy into a bad corner.

However, all of this and many more you will find in the section with news from none-theosophical sites and also in the video-section, of course beside all the many, many interesting news and articles from theosophical websites and organisations and not to forget all the new theosophical magazines (in a block on the right sidebar).

And now I wish you an interesting reading and a peaceful autumn.

With kind regards from Germany

If the ʺspirit,ʺ or the divine portion of the soul, is preëxistent as a distinct being from all eternity, as Origen, Synesius and other Christian fathers and philosophers taught, and if it is the same, and nothing more than the metaphysically‐objective soul, how can it be otherwise than eternal? And what matters it in such a case, whether man leads an animal or a pure life, if, do what he may, he can never lose his individuality? This doctrine is as pernicious in its consequences as that of vicarious atonement. Had the latter dogma, in company with the false idea that we are all immortal, been demonstrated to the world in its true light, humanity would have been bettered by its propagation.

Theosophy Generally Stated

Theosophy - The Paramitas

The function of Theosophists is to open men's hearts and understandings to charity, justice, and generosity, attributes which belong specifically to the human kingdom and are natural to man when he has developed the qualities of a human being. Theosophy teaches the animal-man to be a human-man; and when people have learnt to think and feel as truly human beings should feel and think, they will act humanely, and works of charity, justice, and generosity will be done spontaneously by all.
